The climate is oceanic due to the mountainous range and its proximity to the coast. Without great differences of temperatura, with hot summers between 20 and 25 degrees, and mild winters, figures below zero are rare except in the mountains, where temperaturas during the winter are more extreme.

Rainfall is abundant throughout the year, especially the so-called "orbayu", a very lightrain that falls in plenty keeping fresh the green landscape during all seasons.

LANDSCAPE:

Three very well differentiated areas shape the countryside of the Principado de Asturias:

The Asturian Climate is humid and temperate, consequence of the dominant Atlantic influence that softens the temperatures in summer and it moderates the rigors of the winter. Their fauna and flora is extraordinary, and its unique and grateful natural wealth. Enjoy Asturias in the Hotel IDH Angel

The Mountains: The Cantabrian Cordillera is the natural barrier separating it from the meseta, and it stretches out uninterruptedly along the south until it reaches the Ancares in the border with Galicia.

The Valleys:
Between the mountains and the coast, towns and villages are established, in the midst of woods and pastures. And the mountain streams become rapid rivers full of trout and salmon.

The Coast: 345 km. of steep cliffs with littie inlets of clean waters, where fishing villages evolve surrounded by wonderful beaches of fine sands.

Asturias has a vegetation generous and varied dice the differences of the land and the different areas of influence of the sea and the mountain. In the near area to the coast dominate the mixed forests of chestnut tree and oak, the fresh forests of hazel tree and ash-tree, and the riverside groves with alder tree and willow.

More recent it is the introduction of species of quick growth, as the pine and eucalyptus. In the area of half mountain they dominate the mixed forests of there is and white oak. Ascending in height is the "rebollo", the birch and the holly. In the mountain top, the extreme conditions impede the growth of arboreal areas, these they are substituted by grassland and underbrush.
